Special Edition Celebrates 60 Years of Porsche 911
To commemorate a 6-decade automotive legacy, the 2024 Porsche 911 S/T, a 60th-anniversary special edition of the classic sports coupe, will make its U.S. debut during Rennsport Reunion 7 at Laguna Seca on Sept. 28 through Oct. 1, 2023. Porsche will produce just 1,963 examples of this limited edition to mark the milestone.
The automaker promises the S/T will be the lightest 911 of the 992 generation and the purest expression of the sportscar. Weissach engineers paired the 518-horsepower flat-6 engine from the 911 GT3 RS and a 6-speed manual transmission with a lightweight clutch and a shortened gear ratio to accomplish these ends. The engine can rev up to 9,000 rpm and thrust the S/T to a 3.5-second zero-to-60 time and a top speed of 186 mph. The slimmed-down construction lowers the car to 3,056 pounds, shedding 70 pounds from the 911 GT3 Touring, the other half of its design pedigree.
Speaking of Touring, the 911 S/T’s forged-magnesium 20- and 21-inch staggered wheels are destined for winding roads instead of hairpin turns like the track-focused GT3, despite all its power and drivability.
In another nod to Porsche’s history, buyers can order the optional “Heritage Design Package — 60 Years of the 911,” a thorough interior and exterior re-design that gives the 911 S/T a vintage ’60s racecar look, complete with numbered door panels.
The 2024 Porsche 911 S/T will start at $290,000, not including the $1,650 destination charge, the $20,360 Heritage Design Package, or whatever else you choose from Porsche’s near-limitless options menu.
